Highlights from March 26

The Rotary Club of Mission Viejo recognized Paul Harris Fellows: Mike Getto, Barbara Kogerman, Gary Brenner and Verl Nash.
According to Rotary International, a Paul Harris Fellow is determined "when you give $1,000 or more to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus, or an approved Foundation grant. You are recognized as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow with each additional gift of $1,000."
The speaker March 25 was Dr. Kevin Murray, D.D.S. He spoke about the mission trip conducted by Loma Linda University to Swaziland. He is pictured below with MV President Ken Dever.
Dr. Murray is the son of MV Rotarian Rick Murray. Dr. Murray was part of a medical team that went on the humanitarian trip.  Their mission was to improve the health in the community in which they visited.  He shared the following statistics:  1) the communities of Swaziland are critically affected by HIV and AIDS; 2) current life expectancy is 50 years; 3) 50% of the children are HIV positive.
The Rotary Club of Mission Viejo has donated $250 for the Blind Children's Learning Center. Rotarian Jack Wallace received the check from President Ken Dever during the meeting. Jack is the coordinator for the project and will present the check to the organization.  The Rotary Club of Mission Viejo has supported the Blind Children's Learning Center for several years. Support for the organization began when Jack’s granddaughter was enrolled.
