The Rotary Club of Mission Viejo co-sponsors a project in rural
India to bring clean water to the area.  Rotarian Dr. Pushpa
Chandwani is the Chairperson for this project.
In February 2016, Dr. Chandwani visited the sites
involved in the project.
According to PP Prafull Karnik of R.C. Thane East:
"The unique partnership between Rotary Club Thane East,
Dist 3140, and  the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo, Dist 5320,
is continuing even in the 12th Year, as of 2015-2016.
In this year we had planned and got approval for the Global Grant 1633773
for construction of 7 check dams, 8 borewells and 3 toilet blocks
consisting  of 12 units for Girls and Boys in school.

The grant project work was started in the month of Nov 2015 .

In the month of Feb 2016 the construction work of check dams was nearing completion,
Dr Pushpa Chandwani, the first contact of GG 1633773
from R.C. Mission Viejo had informed us that she would like
to visit a few sites of the project.  Accordingly, we, the Rotarians of
R.C.Thane East, arranged the visit in such a way the she could
visit all different sites. We also included the check dam site of last
Global Grant project in the year 2014-15.
On the day of visit i.e on 22nd Feb,  four of us including President Resham,
IPP Ramesh , PP Prafull and Dr. Pushpa started in one car from
Thane at 7:30 in the morning.
The first stop of visit was to see the Check
dam at Kalambad which was constructed under last Global Grant.
This year the rainfall in the whole of country was very poor,
therefore it is a drought situation. But farmers have used
stored water for last three months to grow the vegetables.

It was greenery all over and little water left out in the dam.
We took photographs
. From Kalambad, we went to see the
Toilet block at a school in Village Dahivali. We were welcomed
by all the students and teachers. The place was decorated with flower petals.
Dr. Pushpa was very happy to see that scenario.
She saw the newly built toilet, which was absolutely necessary, as earlier
there was no toilet for girls, boys and lady teachers. Dr. Pushpa,
along with President Resham, had a detailed discussion with lady teachers.
She also mingled with students and took photographs with them.
Our last stop was the check dam built at a Village Alleni.
On the way we also saw the bore well. Our visit was over at
12:30 PM
.  Dr. Pushpa expressed her happiness to see the positive
impact of the Global Grant Project and thanked
Rotarians of Thane East, especially PP Prafull and IPP Ramesh,
for their excellent work.
